RSP Presents Suction Dredges, a State-of-the-Art, Safe No-Dig Solution

Suction dredges, or suction excavators, are a solution worth their while for many, safe and suited not only for in-the-city underground applications, but also for refurbishing, renovation, and cleaning work. In many European countries, just as in Asia an North America, this no-dig technology is a common part of the construction landscape. Today's construction players have recognized the competitive edge of the suction technology. Depending on the purpose at hand, various models are available, the required suction performance of which is achieved by one, two or three fans. Cutting the fans in and out is a user-friendly process, fast and easy with a radio remote control. The maximum capacity enables suction distances, depending on the particular material, of up to 150 m in the horizontal, and 50 m in the vertical, dimension.

The suction unit of compact dimensions also makes a statement by its patented trap and separator system and its rugged hull. The 10 m³ collector does what is required of it thanks to the no-warp design. Its longevity is the result of the selected steel grade of 5 mm and the use of specialty wear-resistant CREUSABRO sheets. A novel, redesigned trap chamber makes cleaning the suction unit even easier than it was.

Tried and tested equipment is what RSP has put into the carrier arm. As early as when deploying the hydraulically operated articulated hose carrier arm, you notice that the four turning joints and a reach of almost seven (six) metres will enable easy working from a safe place. The suction hose features a precision system guiding it firmly from the lid to the suction high point, which makes precision access to the suction spot easy as ABC. Swivelling up to 180 deg., the arm is made for construction sites by design. The hose size of 250 mm enable effective suction of coarse and heavy materials. Optimum handling is achieved by the availability of all functions through the supplied radio remote control. These facilitates working in difficult construction site environments substantially.

Using various accessory tools, operators can manoeuver the suction hoses with utmost precision even across long distances and in areas that are difficult to reach. These additional solution increase the possible areas of RSP suction excavator applications even more.

Let's sum up the most important areas in which this technology is used:

  • Excavation for buried utility lines
  • Emergency disaster relief for various media
  • Tree refurbishing and root-aware underground construction
  • Gravel removal from flat roofs
  • Removal of waste material in house renovations
  • Maintenance and repair work on rail lines
  • Excavation for access to masonry in sealing applications
  • Cleaning of gullies, sinks, and collectors
  • Removal of materials after accidents, disasters, and catastrophes
  • Extraction of bentonite in horizontal drilling
  • Industrial applications in refineries and chemical plants
  • Special applications

At its location at Saalfeld, RSP manufactures suction units for carrier chassis rated from 7.5 thru 40 tons, stationary suction systems, custom-made solutions. Currently 140 staff are enrolled, and specialised staff for another location in Thüringen is welcome to apply.
