Exceptional Beer - Since 1892

The Bürgerliches Brauhaus Saalfeld brews specialty beers in the heart of Thuringia. It has made beer at this location on Pößnecker Straße in Saalfeld since 1892. With over 120 years of experience and equipment that meets the most up-to-date technical standards, it can craft top-quality beers.

Since 1991, the company is again a limited liability company, after having experienced much change and having been both a public corporation and a state-owned firm. Today, 28 employees produce and sell 50,000 hectoliters of beverages. The products are delivered to customers throughout Thuringia, southern Saxony-Anhalt and western Saxony via the company-owned fleet of vehicles and beverage wholesalers.

Bürgerliches Brauhaus Saalfeld's goal and trademark is the production of especially typical examples of different varieties of beer - and doing so on an internationally respected level. In addition to the Saalfeld beer varieties, Gralsburg brand sparkling waters and soft drinks are also produced, bottled and filled into kegs in the company.

An increasingly important aspect of the business is supplying events of all sizes and renting out the necessary equipment. From fully equipped beverage trailers, coolers and party tent furniture to simple beer glasses, the brewery has everything its customers need for events.

At the Bürgerliches Brauhaus Saalfeld, the priority has long been quality regional products — and its success shows that the company is on the right path! Its beers have impressed the expert tasters at Europe's leading beer competition, the European Beer Star, again and again. Ur-Saalfelder beer won the silver medal in the category German-Style Märzen at the World Beer Cup in the USA.

These honors are a great motivation to continue producing specialty beers representative of their type in order to preserve the variety of beer in Germany. As a brewhouse that has a top place among Germany's breweries, Saalfelder will remain true to its philosophy in the future: whether Märzen, Bock or Festbier, instead of making cheap and mass-produced products, they brew exclusively high-quality specialty beers from the best ingredients.
